Local artist Sara Barriera has been working on her mural named, “Border Kid” at Tony Gonzalez Park.
When asked what this piece means to Barriera, she shared that the message of the painting is about resilience. “It’s about the resilience that people from the valley naturally have. I’m very happy to contribute to my community,” shares Barriera.
Funding and support were made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Choice Neighborhood Plan and the collaborative efforts between the City of Brownsville and the Housing Authority of the City of Brownsville.
Sara Barriera was one of two artists chosen to paint a mural by Brownsville residents this past August.
